Quick and simple home improvement

Conservatories are a convenient and quick way of changing the look of your home and increasing your living space without spending money on renovations or extensions.

They are a fantastic alternative to extensions and can be used to create or extend living rooms, reception spaces, home offices, or even kitchens.

We use the latest thermal and double glazing technologies to make sure our energy-efficient conservatories are comfortable and enjoyable all year round.

Make the most of your space with a conservatory

We have a wide range of contemporary and traditional styles of windows, doors, and conservatories that will complement any home and style.

Our dedicated team of experts are on hand to help you design, choose, and install the right conservatory for you, naturally extending your house’s living space for less.

Since Plymouth has more terraced houses and fewer detached houses than the national average, a conservatory is perfect for making your home feel bigger and letting you enjoy the fantastic South West views.

Conservatory windows and patio doors can also allow you to enjoy your garden all year round, whilst contributing to garden improvement.

From lean-to conservatories to large, Victorian-style conservatories, you’ll find something to suit you in our extensive catalogue.

As a member of FENSA, you can enjoy the peace of mind of knowing that our installers have a proven reputation for quality and our products are compliant with building regulations.

FAQ

How long do UPVC conservatories last?

The life of a UPVC conservatory can vary. No conservatory is maintenance-free, but regular maintenance and cleaning could ensure your conservatory lasts 25 years. Otherwise, a UPVC conservatory should last 10 years.

Can you put a kitchen in a conservatory?

Transforming a conservatory into a kitchen is a very effective way to use extra space. Many people use them as a contained kitchen or an extension of their current kitchen. However, if you want to house your kitchen appliances in a conservatory, you will need to make sure gas and water lines are added.

How much do conservatories cost in Plymouth?

This depends on the size, style, and type of conservatory you choose. Smaller conservatories are likely to be less expensive, whereas bespoke designs are likely to cost a little more. Conservatories are personal, however, so it’s wise to discuss your needs with our expert Plymouth team and to get a free quote.

Do you need planning permission for a conservatory in Plymouth?

You usually do not need planning permission from Plymouth City Council when building an extension. This is because most houses (excluding flats) have Permitted Development Rights which let you carry out certain small works without needing to apply for planning permission.

However, this can depend on the scale of work you are having done and the position of your house. You need to make sure the following conditions are met when planning a conservatory build:

  • Side or rear conservatories are no taller than 4m or 3m if within 2m of a boundary
  • Your conservatory won’t take up more than 50% of the total area of land around the original house (including outbuildings and sheds)
  • The roof ridge (top point) of the conservatory is no taller than the eaves of the original property’s roof
  • The proposed conservatory is not fronting a highway and is not in front of the principal elevation or side elevation of the original house
  • Side conservatories are not wider than 50% of the width of the original house
  • Single-storey rear extensions do not extend beyond the rear wall of the original house by more than 4m (detached house) or more than 3m (any other house)
